| Mahvash Azhir My educational background is in theatre. I received my bachelor's degree in Acting and Directing from the Faculty of Dramatic Arts in Tehran, Iran. My interest in musical theatre took me to England where I completed my postgraduate degree in Musical Theatre at Webber Douglas Academy of Dramatic Arts, in London. Singing for me is a way of expressing myself. This is how I can connect with who I am. I composed the songs "Koocheh" and "Tou Ra Daram Doost" and co-wrote the songs "Safart Be Khayr" and "Aftaab Mishavad". I just rely on my instincts and let it happen naturally and this is because I don't have an academic training in song writing. I choose the poem that I like and read it over and over and recite it until it becomes part of me and that's when the melody starts to evolve. It just happens like that. Music is a universal language. People listen to it, enjoy it, relate to it and through their connection they understand each other better. I had tried to producing a type of music that would have the eastern and western quality. Something that would appeal to a broader audience . |
